Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives and processes incoming written, telephone and walk-in requests for medical information. Assesses the appropriateness of releasing information according to policy and procedures. Maintains Release of Information (ROI) log within 24 hours of receiving request. Accurately maintains log of records released, in accordance with policies and procedures. Performs cash collection functions in accordance to policy for payment for medical records. Analyzes medical records on a weekly basis for completeness & notifies providers of incomplete charts. Scans documents (release of information requests and medical documents) into JMH's electronic medical record system and assists with other activities associated with file scanning maintenance. Processes requests and retrieves records for quality assessment/improvement activities. Identifies and combines duplicate records. Performs related work as assigned. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and hospital policies and procedures including blood and body substance precautions.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer at least one year of work experience in a Medical Records Department or Physician Practice, working with maintenance and release of patient records. Other clerical experience may be considered. Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis. SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm 7:30am-4pm Monday-Friday. 80 Hours per two-week pay period.
