Job Description
Overview St. Barbara's Memorial Nursing Home has an immediate opening for a Medical Records Specialist, EHR/CEHR. St. Barbara's expectation is to hire a qualified candidate that also holds an LPN certification. Having a nursing background will ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and efficient management of patient health information. In this vital role, you will handle electronic health records (EHR) and medical records with precision, uphold healthcare privacy protection standards, and support compliance with health information management policies. Your proactive approach will contribute to seamless clinical operations and exceptional patient care experiences. In this position you would work closely our clinical team to ensure accurate input of resident personal and clinical information into the facilities electronic record. Responsibilities Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR/EMR), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of medical records in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies and health regulation policies. Retrieve, review, and organize patient medical records for clinical staff, insurance claims, audits, or legal purposes with meticulous attention to detail. Ensure compliance with health information regulatory standards by adhering to healthcare privacy protection laws and medical coding guidelines. Collaborate with clinical teams to facilitate seamless records management and support revenue cycle management processes through accurate documentation. Utilize Microsoft Office tools and specialized EHR systems to input data, generate reports, and streamline records workflows efficiently. Assist patients and healthcare providers with inquiries related to medical records while maintaining professional customer service standards. Conduct regular audits of medical records to verify completeness and compliance with healthcare regulations; implement corrective actions as needed. Any other duties assigned by administration. Experience Licensed Practial Nurse (LPN) Proven experience in medical office settings or healthcare environments managing medical records or health information systems. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) and electronic medical record (EMR) management practices. Knowledge of health information management principles, including medical terminology, medical coding, and healthcare privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Strong understanding of health regulation policies related to medical records retention, security, and confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and data analysis tasks. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining high accuracy standards. Prior experience supporting revenue cycle management processes is a plus.
