Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. As a Medical Receptionist, you will manage patient intake, scheduling, insurance processing, and maintain accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies. Your role is vital in delivering exceptional patient service and supporting the smooth operation of the clinic. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing professional and courteous front desk support. Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify patient insurance coverage and process medical billing and collections accurately. Review and update medical documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Manage patient records, including filing, data entry, and electronic health records (EHR) management using systems like eClinicalWorks or similar platforms. Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting demographic information and updating health histories. Handle phone communication professionally, providing clear information about appointments, billing inquiries, or referrals. Support clinical staff by preparing necessary documentation for care plans and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10). Maintain a clean and organized front office environment while managing administrative tasks such as typing reports and performing 10 key data entry. Ensure compliance with health information management standards and office policies to uphold clinical confidentiality. Skills Extensive experience with medical office management and administrative support within healthcare environments. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Strong knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare billing and medical collection procedures. Familiarity with medical coding standards such as CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding for accurate documentation review. Excellent customer service skills combined with phone etiquette and professional communication abilities. Bilingual capabilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail. Competence in Microsoft Office applications for documentation review and report preparation. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations at all times. Prior clinic experience with medical scheduling, filing, and health information management is preferred.
