Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Food & Nutrition Coordinator plans, prepares, serves, and documents nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled at Mom's House. This position coordinates the daily food program in accordance with Mom's House policies, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements, New York State child day care regulations, Department of Health standards, and accepted food-safety practices. The Coordinator maintains a clean, organized kitchen; manages menus, inventory, and required records; responds appropriately to dietary restrictions; and develops professional, cooperative relationships with children, families, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the food and nutrition program, including menu planning, purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation, service, documentation, and kitchen sanitation. Prepare and serve meals and snacks in appropriate portions and on schedule, following approved menus, CACFP meal patterns, age-specific requirements, and safe food-handling procedures. Develop and maintain cycle menus that meet CACFP requirements; submit menus for review and communicate menu changes in a timely manner. Maintain accurate, timely food-program records, including menus, meal counts, production or preparation records, receipts, invoices, inventory information, substitutions, and other required CACFP documentation. Confirm each child's allergies, dietary restrictions, medical food needs, and approved substitutions with the Program Director before serving; follow written plans and prevent cross-contact.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Working knowledge of safe food preparation, sanitation, portion control, inventory management, and meal-service practices. Ability to read, understand, and consistently apply CACFP requirements, New York State child day care regulations, Department of Health requirements, and organizational procedures. Proficiency with email, basic computer systems, spreadsheets, and electronic or paper reporting and recordkeeping. Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Pay:
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 per week
