External Primary Purpose:
The middle school manager is a working manager and will be expected to participate in the activities required of all Nutrition Services' employees. Responsible for supervising, controlling and participating in the preparation and serving of food, the storage of all food and supplies, and the sanitation of kitchens. The manager will maintain and perform all tasks necessary for the proper accountability of TDA Nutrition Services program.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Certification of Technology or
TASN/SNA
level 3
Current Food Service Manager and ServeSafe certification.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to speak, read, and writes the English language.
Food Service operational experience.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years' experience in school food service industry with at least one year management experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintain an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness at all times.
Oversee/Participate in the preparation and serving of foods which meets the established guidelines.
Conducts daily inspections of all areas of facility to ensure compliance with established standards.
Prepares and delivers effective and ongoing training including HACCP, SOP, and CNS policies.
Accurately plan, record, and retain required production records in accordance with TDA guidelines.
Create assignment/work schedules for all assigned employees while ensuring task equality.
Account for all financial transactions connected with the serving of meals in the individual cafeteria.
Order, receive, and account for all food and supplies needed for the preparation/serving of meals.
Proactively maintain and report issues for all equipment to ensure top performance and lifespan.
Conducts ongoing physical inventory of food, equipment and supplies as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
During your entire scheduled work hours you must be physically able to:
- Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoop, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Continual walking; frequent climbing (ladder), grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching.
- Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (15-50 pounds.)
- Work inside in commercial kitchen environment; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures with frequent interruptions.
