Responsibilities Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to support patient independence. Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively. Help with patient transport within facilities and assist in care documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping. Collaborate with healthcare professionals—including physicians, speech therapists, and physical therapists—to optimize patient outcomes. Use your physiology and anatomy knowledge to adapt therapy techniques for clients with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities. Contribute to care plans for patients across various in skilled nursing facilities. Requirements Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program. Passed the NBCOT Exam and posses a professional licensure in AL to treat as a COTA or is eligible to receive one. Prior experience working in acute care, inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health is highly desirable. Strong understanding of medical terminology, care documentation standards, and treatment plan implementation. Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, and geriatrics is preferred. Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques including manual handling and patient care procedures. Excellent communication skills for caregiver and client interactions, ensuring clear understanding of care needs and progress. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining a positive and energetic approach.
