Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. This role requires a blend of technical skills and patient care. We value employees who demonstrate kindness and compassion, and enthusiasm to be part of our team!Duties:
- Perform preliminary eye function testing such as visual acuity, extraocular movements, pupil exam, color vision, and intraocular pressure (airpuff tonometer, tonopen, or applanation)
- Perform Humphrey visual field testing, OCT Macula and Optic Nerve, and Fundus photos
- Administer eye medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments
- Assist with minor surgical procedures
- Update and maintain patient medical records
Requirements:
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye
- Familiarity with optical measurements and prescriptions
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Experience working in a medical office or ophthalmic setting (1-2 years of experience preferred)
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems (preferably Nextech)
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues
Clinic Hours and Job Benefits:
- Monday 8 AM-4 PM; Tuesday 8 AM-12 PM; Wednesday 8 AM-4 PM; Thursday 8 AM-4 PM; Friday 7-2 PM
- Health insurance plans are available to employees after the first 2 months
- Single location office in Sugar Land (you will not be required to rotate to different locations)
- Two weeks paid vacation for full-time employees and paid Holidays This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic Ophthalmology office run by two Ophthalmologists (father and daughter) and contribute to improving patients' vision health.
