Location:
Main Hospital Bldg - 2nd Floor Primary Purpose Responsible for providing assistance to the imaging professionals in the Radiology Department by performing patient related and general clerical duties to ensure effective departmental operations.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education No minimum education required Experience Must have at least nine (9) months experience in a patient, child, or health care setting/environment, customer service experience. Equivalent Education and/or Experience Current enrollment in a Healthcare Program may substitute for the experience requirement. Certification/Registration/Licensure Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following: American Heart Association American Red Cross Rescuer Military Training Network Skills or Special Abilities Must be able to speak, read and write. Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of patient care and processes in a Radiology setting. Must complete a Body Mechanics Class for preventative back injury and proper lifting techniques upon initial orientation. Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge of a computer. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors by communicating effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel. Responsibilities Completes clerical and technical support duties to assist imaging professionals with imaging procedures and associated ancillary tasks, including room, equipment and supply preparation for efficient throughput. Accesses and handles selected medications and contrast as instructed, which may include picking up supplies from the pharmacy, central processing, and other departments as needed. Logs in patients, answers departmental telephones, completes or assists with patient documents and/or screening forms and archives permanent information in the Hospital Information System, ensuring accurate data is available to the Radiology department. Assists imaging professionals with communication tasks including monitoring waiting areas and chaperoning patients. Identifies and transports patients within the Radiology department or elsewhere as needed. Assists with moving patients from transport equipment to imaging tables. Escorts ambulatory patients from waiting areas. Folds and stores linen, ensuring adequate supply is available. Maintains inventory of needed supplies in assigned areas. Notifies appropriate personnel of malfunctioning equipment and supply shortage issues or expiration dates. Cleans and maintains equipment, according to established guidelines. Provides appropriate patient care within the scope and limitations as outlined by departmental and regulatory policies. Performs other duties as required and/or needed.
