Summary:
Collection of blood specimens from properly identified patients through established procedures. Transportation and receipt of specimens to the laboratory with distribution to various departments.
Responsibilities:
The Phlebotomist/Certified Phlebotomist provides professional and friendly venipuncture service to the inpatients and outpatients of the hospital. They represent the front line of Laboratory Services and must exhibit excellent customer not only to the patient but to our nursing and medical staff as well.

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduate or equivalent.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT 1
year preferred.
LICENSURE/ REGISTRATION/ CERTIFICATION
Certification such as ASCP or ASPT preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES REQUIREMENTS
Basic computer skills or keyboarding. Strong communication and customer services skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, blood borne pathogens (which includes HIV and Hepatitis B), and/or other potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to various chemical hazards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Walking and standing throughout entire shift. High finger and manual dexterity. Moderate color discrimination.
