Summary:

Collection of blood specimens from properly identified patients through established procedures. Transportation and receipt of specimens to the laboratory with distribution to various departments.

Responsibilities:

1. Collects blood samples using approved techniques. a. Collects blood specimen according to age specific needs Correctly identifies patient. Correctly labels the blood tubes. Draws blood at correct time. Collects the appropriate specimen. Collects sufficient quantity. Demonstrates competence with collecting blood on all age groups and their special needs. 100% compliance in identification of patients by their hospital armband prior to collection.
