You've Built Your Clinical Skills. Now You're Starting to Wonder What Comes After That. You know how to treat patients. You've been doing this long enough to recognize patterns faster, make better clinical decisions, and help people get results that once felt much harder to achieve. And somewhere along the way, another question starts showing up. What would it look like to build something of your own? Maybe you notice how schedules are managed and think you would approach it differently. Maybe you have ideas about patient experience, team culture, referral relationships, or how a clinic could operate better. Maybe ownership has crossed your mind more than once. But there is a big difference between being an excellent Physical Therapist and knowing how to run a successful Physical Therapy practice. Most clinicians are never taught the second part. They are not taught how to read financial statements, understand reimbursement, manage payroll, hire a team, build referral relationships, navigate credentialing, or keep a clinic financially healthy while it grows. At Propel Physical Therapy Services, we want to give you exposure to those things before you ever have to learn them through trial, error, and your own bank account. Compensation and Benefits $80,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) Paid time off Continuing education support License reimbursement Life insurance Retirement plan Opportunities for advancement Business and leadership development A genuine path toward future equity and ownership What You Will Actually Learn Here Your clinical development still matters. But this role is also designed to give you visibility into what happens behind the scenes of a growing Physical Therapy practice. You will learn how decisions are made, why certain systems exist, what numbers matter, and what it actually takes to operate a successful clinic. Not just the theory. The day-to-day reality. The Numbers You will gain exposure to the financial metrics that determine whether a clinic is healthy, including: P&L Payer mix Reimbursement per visit Cost per visit Arrival and cancellation rates Monthly break-even Clinic profitability You will begin to understand how clinical decisions, staffing, scheduling, and patient volume connect directly to the financial health of a practice. The Systems You will learn how the operational side of Physical Therapy works, including: Scheduling and capacity Revenue cycle Credentialing EMR Compliance Clinic operations Identifying operational problems and improving the systems behind them You will see what happens when systems work well, what happens when they do not, and how strong practices adapt. The People Part Running a successful clinic also means learning how to lead people.
You will gain experience with:
Hiring Onboarding Setting expectations Coaching Accountability Navigating difficult conversations Because leadership requires a completely different skill set than treating patients. And if ownership is something you want someday, you need both. Growth You will also gain exposure to the activities that help a clinic expand, including: Physician and referral relationships Community partnerships Employer relationships Marketing Patient acquisition Clinic growth You will learn how strong clinics create opportunities instead of simply waiting for patients to arrive. Direct Access to Ownership You will have opportunities to work closely with the owner and understand the decisions that happen behind the scenes. Why was that decision made? What worked? What did not? Which investments paid off? Which mistakes were expensive? What would you change if you had to do it again? These are conversations most Physical Therapists never get access to until they are already running a business themselves. The Path Is Defined Strong Clinician → Leadership Responsibilities → Clinic Director → Equity and Ownership Opportunity As Propel continues growing, there is an opportunity for the right Physical Therapist to grow alongside the company. The goal is not to push you into ownership. The goal is to give you enough exposure to leadership and business that you can make an informed decision about whether ownership is actually right for you. Over the next one to two years, you should have a much better understanding of what running a clinic requires. And you can gain that perspective before signing a lease, taking on debt, hiring employees, or investing your own money into a practice. If you eventually decide ownership is not the path you want, that is completely fine. You will still become a stronger clinician and leader because of what you learned along the way. The Clinical Work You are still a Physical Therapist first. You will provide one-on-one care to active adults, athletes, runners, golfers, and patients who want to move better, perform better, and return to the activities that matter to them.
Your work may include:
Manual therapy Dry needling Corrective exercise Strength and mobility training Comprehensive movement assessment Orthopedic rehabilitation Sports rehabilitation Return-to-activity progression Individualized patient education You will have meaningful autonomy over your plan of care and the opportunity to use your clinical reasoning rather than simply follow a predetermined protocol.
