The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Hospice and Palliative Care and will be local to Southern California. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care, utilizing advanced medical practices, and adhering to established hospice standards. You will join our compassionate team as a Hospice/Palliative Care Pediatric Physician, dedicated to providing exceptional end-of-life and comfort care for children facing serious illnesses. In this vital role, you will deliver comprehensive medical services, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support families through challenging times with empathy and expertise. Your work will ensure that pediatric patients experience dignity, comfort, and quality of life in their most vulnerable moments. Duties Conduct thorough in person assessments of pediatric patients requiring hospice or palliative care, including physical examinations and symptom management. Develop individualized care plans that address complex medical needs, incorporating pain management, symptom control, and psychosocial support. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals across disciplines such as nursing, social work, chaplaincy, and therapy to coordinate holistic patient care. Utilize electronic health record (EHR)

system to document patient histories, treatment plans, and ongoing progress accurately. Educate families about disease progression, treatment options, and comfort measures to empower informed decision-making. Manage medication administration including opioids and other pain relief therapies in accordance with best practices and safety protocols. Participate in clinical research initiatives aimed at advancing pediatric hospice and palliative medicine practices. Experience Post-residency experience in hospice or palliative medicine with a focus on pediatric populations is required. Demonstrated proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and patient management. Experience working within inpatient settings such as pediatric hospices, hospitals, or intensive care units (ICU) is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical imaging techniques relevant to pediatric care and familiarity with diagnostic radiology is advantageous. Strong background in managing complex chronic conditions like oncology, neurology, cardiology, pulmonology, within a hospice or palliative framework. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams across specialties including pediatrics, family medicine, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and others listed above. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children's families during sensitive conversations about care goals and end-of-life planning. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care, utilizing advanced medical practices, and adhering to established hospice and palliative care standards. Will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive treatment plans are developed and implemented for patients. Actively participates in bi-monthly in office IDT meetings, updating comprehensive assessments and plan of care. Certifies in writing that each individual considered for admission to hospice or palliative care is terminally ill in accordance with regulations, hospice and or palliative care policies and procedures, and the patient's benefit requirements. Provides physician services to patients by ensuring continuity of hospice or palliative medical services including appropriate management of patient pain and symptoms related to the terminal condition. Documents an individual patient's progression in end-stage disease in the patient/family record as appropriate. Participation in the initial development and ongoing review of the IDG Plan of care, and that the plan of care is developed prior to the delivery of hospice services. Meets the general medical needs, including pain and/or symptom management of the patient. Must be able to accommodate Face to Face patient visits Telehealth interactions possible in some instances.
