A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

Chartiers Center is a private, non-profit corporation funded by state, county, third party insurances and private funds. Services include intake, referral, outpatient therapy, psychiatric assessment, service coordination, substance abuse treatment, training and social rehabilitative services, crisis intervention, partial hospitalization, community outreach, day, and recreational services for adults with intellectual disabilities, homeless outreach, and housing program. As a Residential Therapist in our Long-Term Structured Residence Facility, you would be committed to providing compassionate supports and therapy to sixteen older adults facing mental health challenges. The program operates in a beautifully restored home with a relaxed atmosphere. The focus is on engagement and interactions with the residents. Paperwork requirements are nominal. The work schedule is based on a 2-week rotation with every other weekend off.
Residential Therapist Job duties include:
Complete functional assessments, develop treatment plans and complete utilization reviews and updates on a monthly basis for a caseload of 8 residents. Conduct a variety of clinical group activities designed to enhance interactions and minimize symptoms. Participate in treatment team meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, psychiatric staffing, and individual supervision. We are looking for the following: Master's Level Therapists with two years' experience (preferred) Licensed Professional Counselor
