III/IV NICU
serving the Maryland-Washington, D.C. region. In this role, you'll deliver evidence-based care to critically ill and premature newborns, manage complex monitoring and ventilator support, and collaborate with neonatologists and an interdisciplinary team. You'll educate and support families, participate in neonatal resuscitations, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives. Responsibilities Provide evidence-based nursing care to high-acuity neonates in the NICU, including assessment, medication administration, and monitoring of vital signs and life-support equipment. Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans. Educate and support parents and families on infant conditions, care techniques, discharge planning, and available community resources. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adhere to all regulatory, safety, and infection-prevention standards. Participate in neonatal resuscitations, emergency responses, and stabilization of critically ill or premature infants. Precept and mentor new nurses and students, supporting a culture of learning, teamwork, and continuous quality improvement. Coordinate care transitions, including transfers within the health system and safe discharge to home or step-down units. Utilize advanced NICU technology such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitoring systems, ensuring proper operation and troubleshooting. Contribute to unit-based quality initiatives, evidence-based practice projects, and compliance with clinical protocols and guidelines. Participate in ongoing education, certifications, and skills training to maintain clinical competence in neonatal critical care.
