Job Description

Overview Portsmouth Surgery Center (ASC) is a multi-specialty facility providing advanced outpatient surgical care. Our mission is to deliver high-quality healthcare services across various medical specialties in a patient-centered and efficient manner. With a team of skilled professionals, we strive for excellence in clinical and operational performance. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and demonstrate exceptional clinical skills in a fast-paced environment. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Responsibilities Assess the health care needs of the patient and takes appropriate action by planning, implementing, and evaluating care. Determines care that is appropriate to the age of the patient with consideration to physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Renders advanced nursing care including the administration of medications and IV fluids. Utilizes equipment and technology to implement nursing interventions and patient care insuring safety and adherence to policy and procedure. Follows guidelines for obtaining, handling, and disposition of specimens. Adjusts the plan of care according to changes in the patient's condition. Sets priorities and organizes work to deliver efficient patient care. Meets the learning needs of the patient through assessment, individualized instruction, and reassessment of understanding. Communicates plan of care to patient, family, and other health care members. Provides documentation in the medical record that reflects all aspects of care provided. Assumes charge responsibilities when necessary. Monitors and maintains sterile technique in the operating room. Assists the surgeon, anesthesiologist and maintain supplies for the surgical tech in the operating room. Utilizes knowledge pertaining to patient positioning and directs the process as necessary. Maintains patient confidentiality. Incorporates Portsmouth Surgery Center standards to best serve quality patient care. Works in Central Service, decontaminating and sterilizing instruments as needed. Pulls cases for the next day, making sure items needed are there or the appropriate personnel is notified. Assists in Pre-op as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Quality Improvement:
Participate in the monitoring activities of the quality assurance program. Complies with Policies and Procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
Personal Development and Professionalism:
Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team. Attends in service, conferences and meetings as required Attends annual Safety and Competency education session Maintains designated certifications such as CPR, ACLS, and PALS, as offered by Portsmouth Surgery Center. Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of Portsmouth Surgery Center. Maintain patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy. Follow Portsmouth Surgery Center professional conduct and dress code policy. Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians and their office staff, patients and employees. Assists with other responsibilities of Portsmouth Surgery Center as deemed necessary by management Requirements Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Previous experience in an Operating Room setting. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating excellent communication skills. $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
