Newark, DE Position Summary:
The Unit Coordinator/Secretary plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the behavioral health unit by providing administrative and clerical assistance to clinical staff, patients, and visitors. This position serves as the central point of communication within the unit, ensuring that documentation, scheduling, and coordination tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. The incumbent will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting mental health care are essential qualities for success in this role.
Responsibilities :
Perform clerical duties including filing, scanning, faxing, and photocopying documents. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and unit logs. Prepare and distribute reports, forms, and other documentation as needed. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, clinical staff, and other departments. Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries professionally. Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in collaboration with clinical staff. Ensure timely and accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information. Follow hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, and documentation standards. Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner. Monitor inventory and order supplies for the unit as needed.
