A Respiratory Therapist assists patients who have trouble breathing because of a chronic respiratory illness, trauma, or other conditions. Administers tests to diagnose breathing problems, performs treatments to help patients breathe easier, or sets up breathing equipment such as ventilators. Works closely with physicians and other healthcare workers, and may also assist in providing emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock. Works in hospitals; may also provide care and counseling to patients in their homes.

Job Description

Offering $25 to $40 per hour Lincare is currently seeking a Respiratory Therapist / Nurse to join a growing team. This employee is responsible for the setup of home medical equipment, including ventilators, monitors, CPAP/BiPAP units, and/or other related equipment. The employee will also educate and train patients on the proper usage of prescribed equipment. Comprehensive benefits package with flexible options to fit individual needs An inclusive, open, and friendly environment focused on associates and their success Ample training and development opportunities that foster personal and professional growth Job Responsibilities Set up, operate, and provide education on home medical equipment that includes, but is not limited to CPAP/BiPAP machines, nebulizers, oxygen concentrators, and/or mechanical ventilators Inspect, test, and adjust home medical equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently Review prescription and patient information to assess condition and determine suitable treatment administration, compatible with physician orders Maintain patient records in a complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards Maintain current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts Work on-call after hours and weekends as needed Frequency is determined by center size and number of employees available to share
Requirements:
Work Experience Level 1
  • Familiar with equipment and services provided in the home healthcare setting, or other patient care, Required Level 2
  • Minimum of two years in home healthcare, Required Level 3
  • Minimum of three years in home healthcare May be involved in training of other Healthcare Specialists, Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities excellent human relations to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients computer literate clinician authorized within scope of practice (as established by applicable state law or if none, by the applicable national board) to provide all patient care services offered by Lincare from time to time Subject to state law/regulation, RNs, LPNs, LVNs, paramedics, EMTs, and other clinicians may also be qualified for this position If applicable, based on the requirements of state, in addition to a valid state license, current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for CRTs and RRTs.
Subject to State requirements and management approval, on an exception basis, a person may be hired that does not meet all the above certifications and training, but practices respiratory therapy as authorized by applicable state law Licenses and Certifications Must have completed all training/education required to obtain requisite certification, registration, and/or license described below, Required Must remain certified, registered, or licensed by the applicable state and/or national board governing clinical practice or as otherwise permitted by law In all states, CRTs and RRTs are qualified for this position, Required Lincare offers employees a variety of competitive benefits that include ongoing training and advancement opportunities.
