West Hollywood, CA Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to join our healthcare team. The Sterile Processing Tech plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by preparing, sterilizing, and managing surgical instruments and medical equipment. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to strict aseptic techniques, and comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining a sterile environment, supporting surgical teams, and upholding the highest standards of infection control. Duties Receive, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization processes. Operate sterilization machinery such as autoclaves, ensuring proper cycles and documentation. Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies and surgical instruments. Follow strict aseptic techniques during cleaning, sterilization, and packaging procedures. Document sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory logs accurately. Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments. Conduct routine quality checks to verify sterility and functionality of equipment. Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control guidelines. Assist with inventory replenishment and proper storage of sterile supplies. Participate in ongoing training to stay current with best practices in sterile processing. Experience Prior experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment is preferred. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology enhances understanding of instrument requirements. Familiarity with medical terminology used in surgical settings is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to manage inventory efficiently within a fast-paced environment. Understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control practices is essential. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail are required for accurate documentation. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (such as CBSPD or IAHCSMM) is highly desirable but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates.
