Overview We are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the sterilization, decontamination, and preparation of surgical instruments and medical equipment to ensure patient safety and compliance with health standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sterile processing procedures, anatomy, and physiology, contributing to the seamless operation of our sterile services department. Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and decontaminate used surgical instruments and medical devices following strict aseptic techniques. Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, sterilizers, and ultrasonic cleaners to ensure proper sterilization cycles. Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies and instrument sets, ensuring availability for scheduled procedures. Assemble, wrap, and label instrument trays according to established protocols for surgical cases. Document sterilization processes meticulously and perform quality checks to verify sterility and functionality. Collaborate with surgical teams to understand instrument requirements and prepare supplies accordingly. Adhere to infection control policies and safety standards to prevent contamination or cross-infection. Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance. Assist in training new staff or interns on proper sterile processing techniques and procedures. Requirements Proven experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare support role. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to surgical instruments. Familiarity with sterile processing protocols, aseptic techniques, and infection control standards. Strong inventory management skills to track supplies and maintain stock levels efficiently. Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and perform routine maintenance tasks. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in documentation and instrument handling. Effective communication skills to collaborate with medical staff and team members. Certification in sterile processing or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates.
