Role:
Blue Lake Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Gresham, OR is looking for a skilled and dedicated Surgical Dental Assistant to join our specialized team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced oral surgeons in a fast-paced, rewarding clinical environment where your expertise truly makes a difference for patients every day.
Responsibilities:
Assist oral and maxillofacial surgeons during surgical procedures including tooth extractions, implant placements, and jaw surgeries Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and operatory rooms prior to procedures Monitor and support patients during pre-op, intraoperative, and post-op care Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the surgeon Document patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories accurately in practice management software Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer procedural questions Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and ensure compliance with OSHA and infection control standards
Requirements:
Dental assisting experience required; oral surgery or surgical assisting experience strongly preferred Current Oregon Dental Assistant registration or eligibility to obtain Radiology certification (or ability to obtain) per Oregon state requirements CPR/BLS certification required Familiarity with surgical instruments, IV sedation protocols, and sterile technique Strong attention to detail, ability to anticipate surgeon needs, and calm under pressure Excellent patient communication skills and a compassionate chairside manner
