Job Description

Texas Eye Institute is acknowledged as one of the Gulf Coast's premier eye care physician groups. The groups medical expertise, which is available at five convenient locations, covers the spectrum of eye care and specialties including: routine eye exams, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal transplants, retina-vitreous care, pediatrics, laser vision correction, and plastic surgery of the eyelids. We are currently in search of a Surgical Coordinator for our Sugar Land location. Applicant should be dependable and a self-starter. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, scheduling ophthalmic surgeries at the ambulatory surgery center and local hospitals. Serves as liaison between patient and surgeon, facility, pre-op staff, etc. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage. Requires considerable attention to detail. Ability to communicate with patients, surgeons, co-workers and supervisor is critical. Must be willing to help in all areas. List of Responsibilities/Duties
  • Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons
  • Communicates with patients about: Scheduling, Pre-Op testing and visits, Insurance Requirements, Surgical Consents, Pre and Post-operative instructions and counseling, Transportation Requirements, Financial Requirements
  • Coordinates with surgical facilities for scheduling
  • Request surgical clearances from PCP
  • Schedules pre-op and post-op visits
  • Performs diagnostic testing
  • Verify insurance benefits and requests pre-authorizations
  • Orders intraocular lenses and any other equipment and/or special supplies needed for surgery
  • Posts all surgical charges Minimum Education Requirement
  • High school diploma or GED. Minimum Background Requirement
  • Previous experience or training in this or similar position

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
