This is a direct to hire opportunity with a hospital that offers a progressive, easy going yet busy environment, state of the art technology, and a supportive team focused on delivering the highest quality of care to pet patients. Duties Examine and diagnose diseases and injuries of pets (primarily dogs and cats), and treat surgically or medically. Collaborate within the hospital's veterinary ecosystem and communicate with referring veterinarians. Conduct veterinary surgeries, including soft tissue procedures, dental treatments, and emergency interventions. Provide specialized care in internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, critical & intensive care, and exotic animal medicine as needed. Handle animal restraint, animal catheterization, aseptic techniques, and laboratory procedures to ensure accurate diagnostics and treatment. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies. Assist in animal husbandry, pet grooming, and maintaining animal physiology and anatomy knowledge to support overall health. Requirements Must have a valid Connecticut veterinary license or willingness to get obtain the proper licensing. 2+ years of experience practicing veterinary medicine in a veterinary hospital setting is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply. Veterinary degree from an accredited institution. Proven veterinary experience with a strong foundation in companion animal medicine and surgery. Expertise in animal restraint, anesthesia (including general anesthesia), emergency medicine, and veterinary dentistry. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, internal medicine, laboratory techniques, and critical care protocols. Ability to handle dogs and cats confidently with dog and cat handling skills; experience with large animals is a plus. Strong commitment to professional ethics, animal welfare standards, and client communication excellence. Demonstrated proficiency in animal care procedures such as animal catheterization, aseptic technique, and laboratory diagnostics.
