Dishwasher/Barista/Prep Support Job Description Overview:
Bright Futures for Youth (BFFY) is seeking a team member to begin Sept. 1, 2026 for the role of Dishwasher/Barista/Prep Support to support our Nutrition Program. This is an ideal position for someone who is eager to support our youth and to learn more about working in a commercial kitchen and grow their skills to be part of a culinary team. Previous experience is desired but not necessary. Employees receive training in a variety of skills and responsibilities to become an integral part of our Nutrition Program, serving after-school meals to middle- and high school-age youth Monday through Friday. This is a part-time, non-exempt position ranging from 20-29 hours per week, supervised by the Nutrition Program Manager and Assistant Manager.Duties:
Dishwasher/Prep Support plays an important role on our kitchen team! Responsibilities include, but are not limited to (training provided):- Washing and sanitizing cookware and service wares, and equipment
- Sweeping & mopping
- Weekly deep cleaning
- Barista and/or meal service- serving our youth with a smile! (usually only 1 hour per shift)
- Prep support for commercial food preparation
- Proper cooling and storage of ingredients and leftover foods
- Occasionally working alongside and/or guiding our volunteers
Skills & Qualifications:
- A positive, growth mindset
- Ability to stay organized, upbeat and friendly in a fast-paced, sometimes hectic or loud environment
- Ability to work well independently and to cooperate cheerfully on a team
- Great communication skills to engage with coworkers, supervisors, volunteers, and youth
- Ability to stand for extended periods and to lift 50lbs safely, possibly multiple times a day
- Attention to detail and punctuality
- Effective time management and problem-solving skills; flexibility to switch tasks as needed, and prioritize multiple tasks
- Requires ServSafe Food Handler's Certification (provided in training if necessary)
