Job Summary Senior Care of Blackville is hiring!! Join our dedicated culinary team as a Kitchen/Cook/Aide in a long-term care nursing home environment, where your culinary skills and passion for nourishing others will make a meaningful difference. In this vital role, you will prepare nutritious, appealing meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, ensuring food safety and high-quality service. Your expertise in food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen operations will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that promotes residents' well-being and comfort. This position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents while supporting the health and happiness of our residents. Responsibilities Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish. Plan menus that meet nutritional standards and accommodate special dietary restrictions or preferences of residents. Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, braising pans, poaching devices, and food processors. Maintain strict food safety and sanitizing procedures to uphold health regulations and prevent contamination. Handle food with care, demonstrating excellent knife skills and techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and other cooking methods suitable for high-volume production. Assist with food production tasks such as food handling, portioning, plating, and presentation to ensure appealing meals. Support the dietary department by adhering to recipes accurately and maintaining cleanliness during meal prep and service. Requirements Prior experience as a dietary aide or cook in a healthcare or long-term care setting is preferred; experience in fine dining or restaurant environments is a plus. Strong knowledge of food safety management practices, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling techniques. Proven ability to perform food preparation tasks including grilling, braising, poaching, and other culinary techniques required for diverse meal offerings. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently in a high-volume setting. Excellent knife skills with attention to detail in recipe adherence and meal presentation. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Culinary experience that demonstrates versatility across various cooking styles within the food industry or catering services is highly valued.
