Through a network of nearly 60 nonprofit partners and direct service programs, WSFB distributes more than five million pounds of nutritious food annually to children, families, seniors, veterans, and others experiencing food insecurity. Our mission is to end hunger through food distribution, community engagement, and advocacy. Position Summary Westside Food Bank seeks a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Development Associate to support communications, fundraising, donor engagement, and special events. Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, this position plays a key role in telling the story of Westside Food Bank's impact, supporting fundraising initiatives, coordinating special events, and strengthening relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain website content and digital communications, including email communications, e-blasts, donation pages, and campaign landing pages. Create and schedule organic social media content and assist with digital fundraising campaigns. Gather Interview, film, and edit client stories, photos, and videos to support fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts. Maintain and organize digital content files, including photos, videos, client stories, marketing materials, and other communications assets. Draft donor communications, impact stories, press releases, newsletters, promotional materials, and other communications pieces. Coordinate logistics for Westside Food Bank's annual Hunger Walk and other fundraising, donor cultivation, and community events. Assist with event sponsorship recruitment, sponsor stewardship and fulfillment, event promotion, registration, volunteer coordination, vendor management, and event-day operations. Support and attend third-party fundraising events, community outreach activities, and organizational tabling opportunities. Conduct prospect research and prepare sponsorship, donor, and corporate partnership materials. Support donor acknowledgment, stewardship, and engagement activities. Respond to donor inquiries and assist with donor cultivation and special mailings. Serve as the primary staff liaison for digital fundraising and marketing initiatives, coordinating campaign assets, tracking deliverables, maintaining project records, and supporting timely project execution. Maintain organizational profiles on charity, nonprofit, and community platforms. Maintain project files, calendars, tracking systems, and other department records. Coordinate meeting logistics and provide administrative support for development projects and initiatives. Assist with departmental reporting and other fundraising, communications, and development activities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferably Marketing, Communications, or equivalent work experience of 2+ years in communications, events, fundraising, marketing, or a related field. Nonprofit experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Experience with social media, Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Slack, project management software, and nonprofit CRMs. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. A valid driver's license and having your own car are preferred. Ability to learn new software and technology platforms quickly. Strong initiative and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Professional, positive, and service-oriented approach to working with donors, volunteers, community partners, and colleagues. Compensation & Benefits Full-time, non-exempt, hybrid position. $28.00 to $30.00 per hour depending on experience. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k) match, paid time off, life insurance, disability insurance, and professional development support.
