Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes performing daily cleaning routines, light maintenance, and supporting school events and facility operations. The Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring a healthy and welcoming school setting. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and the ability to carry out a variety of cleaning and upkeep tasks efficiently and reliably. Responsibilities Clean classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other school areas daily Empty trash and recycling bins; dispose of waste according to policies Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and carpets Sanitize high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handrails, and desks Refill supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilet paper Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for school functions Perform minor repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs, fixing door handles) Monitor and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel Maintain janitorial equipment and supply inventory Lock and unlock school buildings as needed Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations Skills Proven experience in custodial services is preferred. Strong knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment operation. Ability to maintain cleanliness. Familiarity with facilities maintenance practices is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff and management. Background Screening Requirement Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a fingerprint-based background screening through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Department of Education Clearinghouse. Applicants are responsible for the cost of fingerprinting and background screening.
