A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

The Custodian general function will be to perform custodial care and cleaning of public buildings and equipment. Work involves the performance of cleaning and routine maintenance as assigned. They will be responsible for using proper methods, materials and equipment in cleaning and otherwise attending to the neatness and sanitation of buildings and equipment. This position will work Monday through Friday from 5:00pm -1:30am and requires medium work involving standing or walking all of the time, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis.
Depending on the assignment, the incumbent may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties, and perform related duties as assigned: Receive and perform tasks from work orders; input new and completed work orders into the appropriate computer system. Receive work assignments and orders from Branch Manager and Lead, ensuring assignments are completed on time. Check public restrooms to ensure they are stocked and clean. Clean up spills in public areas. Maintain stock levels of expendables. Drive a county or personal vehicle. Must have approved LEADS access to Sheriff's Office and Courts secured areas at all times. All other related duties as assigned.
