A Janitor or Cleaner provides cleaning and basic maintenance in buildings such as schools, offices, stores, hospitals or hotels. Cleans and polishes floors, removes trash, vacuums carpets, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks building supplies such as light bulbs and paper towels and performs minor repairs as needed. Holds keys for rooms and building entrances and locks or unlocks them as needed.

Responsibilities Clean hallways, offices, lunchrooms, and common areas. Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly. Clean and maintain restrooms. Wash and put away cleaning supplies, equipment, and other items as needed. Assist with setting up and cleaning up the lunchroom, setting up and cleaning up after school events, meetings, and activities. Monitor and report maintenance, safety, plumbing, electrical, heating, or other building issues to the appropriate supervisor. Assist with basic facilities maintenance tasks including minor repairs, painting, replace light bulbs and perform other basic maintenance tasks when qualified. Help maintain sidewalks, entrances, and outdoor areas as needed, including snow or ice removal when required, cut grass and weeds, clean any garbage around the building. Assist with moving furniture, supplies, deliveries, and equipment. Keep custodial closets and storage areas clean, organized, and properly stocked. Help ensure the school remains safe and presentable for students, staff, and visitors. Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
