Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Engagement, the Program Coordinator will contribute to the office's mission of creating meaningful experiences with and for the APU community through a student development lens. This position will serve as the primary contact for commuter life services, campus recreation, and office operations. Required Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Development, ministry, or other related field preferred. Required Experience Demonstrated competence in program development and implementation, and staff development. Direct supervision, management, and training of undergraduate students. Knowledge of risk management protocol. Able to act on the University's behalf in an emergency situation. Establish and administer safety/risk management and emergency action protocols/plans. Prepare and monitor line-item budgets for specific program areas. Understanding of issues related to student development in a university environment. Proven experience in student programming or event planning. Understanding of issues related to student development in a university environment. Experience in higher education/student development/church ministry preferred. Primary Duties/Essential Functions Commuter Life Services Oversees the development and implementation of relevant programs and services for the undergraduate commuter population. Supervises the commuter life services undergraduate intern. Provides overall leadership for hiring and training commuter life assistants. Monitor the commuter life services operational budget. Responsible for managing the student union (Cougar Dome). Conduct occasional needs assessments to refine programs and services offered. Campus Recreation Coordinate and manage a comprehensive campus recreation program for undergraduate and graduate students. Supervise the campus recreation undergraduate interns. Provides overall leadership for hiring and training campus recreation staff (referees, first-aid responders). Monitor the Campus Recreation operational budget. Sustain, review, and refine campus recreation procedures, policies, and emergency action plans. Maintain appropriate records relevant to campus recreation (participant names, release forms, incident reports, injuries, altercations, and discipline-related incidents). Maintain all campus recreation equipment, including relevant purchases and replacement. Collaborate with campus partners on the use of appropriate facilities as necessary. Host accountability meetings with participants who violate campus recreation policies or exhibit unsportsmanlike conduct on the field from a redemptive, student development lens. Office Operations Provide overall logistical, clerical, and administrative support for the Office of Campus Life. Supervise the Campus Life Operations Interns (Graphic Design, Operations, Social Media) Oversee marketing campaigns and strategies for Campus Life's physical and virtual presence. Create and implement new ideas to improve branding and marketing exposure. Manage Campus Life group role email, phone correspondence, and scheduling. Other Co-plans and hosts regular staff meetings for the Campus Life team. Co-recruit, hire, train, and provide ongoing development of the Campus Life team. Interprets and explains University philosophies, policies, and requirements related to Campus Life. Assists with institutional programming initiatives, including monthly Campus Life Classics, Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, Student Belonging initiatives, Athletic events, orientation sessions, etc. Available for night and weekend events as it pertains to the role. Responsible for daily electronic timekeeping as it applies to the scope of this position. Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor Skills Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with students, parents, staff, and faculty in a friendly, patient, and professional manner. Public speaking and presentation for training and programming purposes. Must have a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently at times, resourcefulness, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates sensitivity and commitment to the unique needs of students experiencing emotional, interpersonal, and spiritual concerns. Knowledge of relevant ethical and legal parameters of professional practice. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and proven creativity in event planning, programming, and publicity. Compensation Grade 7: $19.49 - $22.41 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
