Posted Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 10:00 PM The Dunwoody Village Recreation Department is devoted to empowering residents who reside in our Care Center to live life to the fullest. We respect and encourage their right to pursue leisure interests that bring them pleasure and preserve their dignity. Over 3,000 recreation programs are offered every year with the goal of keeping our residents cognitively, emotionally, and socially fulfilled. The Recreation Staff engages residents to realize their full potential through a wide variety of leisure activities. The Full Time Recreation Assistant (9am-5pm) is responsible for developing and implementing both group and individual recreation programs. Additional duties include but not limited to: Plan, develop and implement group recreation programs such as exercise class, word games, horticulture, arts and crafts etc.
Inform Residents of daily events and escort Residents to and from group programs
Identifies the individual abilities of residents and plans recreation programs to accommodate those abilities.
Maintains a daily record of resident's participation in group and individual programs.
Assists Manager in evaluating the effectiveness of program and participation levels of residents. To be considered for the job, candidates must meet the following requirements: Must be able to work a weekend and holiday rotation
High School graduate
Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Office, Facetime, and iTunes
Able to read aloud to a group and or individual
Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
Organization & time management skills
Able to work both independently and with supervision
Cheerfulness, positive attitude and the ability to motivate people.
Genuine liking and respect for the elderly, physically and cognitively impaired. While we certainly prefer candidates with relevant experience in Long Term Care or the Recreation Field, we are happy to train motivated persons with a desire to work with older adults.
