The Bakery Manager leads and motivates bakery associates while maintaining department standards, inventory control, production planning, and labor management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Department Operations Manage daily bakery operations to ensure efficient production and customer satisfaction. Plan, organize, and direct bakery production schedules to meet customer demand. Ensure proper merchandising, product rotation, display presentation, and department cleanliness. Monitor product quality, freshness, and consistency. Maintain adequate inventory levels and minimize shrink through proper ordering and inventory management. Implement company programs, promotions, and merchandising standards. Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service and create a positive shopping experience. Resolve customer concerns and special-order requests professionally and promptly. Ensure associates engage customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for improvement. Food Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and sanitation regulations. Maintain food safety standards, proper product handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls. Conduct regular department inspections and corrective actions as needed. Ensure employees follow all safety procedures to reduce workplace accidents. Financial Performance Achieve sales, margin, labor, and shrink goals established by management. Analyze department financial reports and identify opportunities to improve profitability. Review sales trends and adjust production accordingly. Control expenses while maintaining quality and customer service standards. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 3-5 years of bakery, food service, or retail management experience preferred. Previous supervisory or leadership experience required. Strong understanding of bakery production, merchandising, and food safety practices. Ability to operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Knowledge of bakery products, decorating techniques, and production planning. Ability to analyze sales and financial reports. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and time-management abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management systems preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb. Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments. Ability to operate bakery equipment safely. Work Environment Retail grocery store setting. Exposure to ovens, mixers, bakery equipment, and temperature variations.
