Job Description:
Position Summary The Director of the Center for Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) leads a university-wide division focused on expanding CBU's reach to adult learners, working professionals, and industry partners. Operating as a non-academic administrator, the Director oversees the strategic development, launch, and management of micro-credentials, certifications, adult and online programs, and corporate and workforce partnerships. The Director works closely with internal and external partners to create market-responsive offerings that advance CBU's mission, generate new revenue streams, and strengthen CBU's position as a leader in workforce development in Memphis and the Mid-South. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Management (30%) Provide vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the Center for Professional & Continuing Education. Develop and implement a multi-year growth strategy aligned with the university's strategic plan and industry demand. Establish annual performance goals, revenue targets, and reporting structures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on program development, instructional design, marketing, enrollment, and corporate relations. Program Development & Portfolio Management (25%) Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and employer needs assessments to identify program opportunities. Oversee the creation, revision, and evaluation of certifications, micro-credentials, and noncredit training programs. Explore future stackable learning pathways in order to connect micro-credentials to certificates and degree programs. Corporate & Workforce Partnerships (20%) Serve as CBU's primary point of contact for employers seeking professional training, customized programs, or workforce development solutions. Build strategic relationships with regional industries including healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, education, and nonprofit leadership. Negotiate corporate training contracts, tuition discount agreements, and cohort-based partnerships. Represent the university in regional workforce coalitions and business community organizations. Adult & Online Program Operations (15%) Oversee the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of online, hybrid, and adult-focused programs. Collaborate with instructional design staff to ensure high-quality learning experiences aligned with best practices. Implement systems for adult learner support, onboarding, retention, and completion. Ensure compliance with accreditation, state authorization, and federal regulations. Marketing, Enrollment Management & External Engagement (10%) Partner with marketing and enrollment teams to develop targeted recruitment strategies for adult and professional students. Oversee branding, messaging, and digital presence for PCE programs. Monitor enrollment performance and adjust strategies to optimize lead generation and conversion. Represent PCE to internal and external stakeholders, including presenting to boards, committees, and community organizations. Work Environment This position requires a combination of on-campus engagement, community presence, and occasional travel to employer sites. Evening or weekend work may be required for program launches, recruitment events, or corporate training sessions. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in higher education, continuing education, workforce development, corporate partnerships, professional training, or related fields. Demonstrated success in building programs, managing teams, or growing revenue-generating units. Strong understanding of adult and online education, noncredit programming, and industry-driven training models. Proven ability to collaborate with academic leaders and external partners. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in business, higher education administration, organizational leadership, or related field. Experience working with digital badging systems, noncredit program operations, or instructional design teams. Knowledge of Memphis-area workforce needs and employer landscape. Demonstrated success in corporate engagement, B2B sales, or partnership development. Experience administering CRM systems, enrollment pipelines, or marketing strategies for adult learners.
