Part-Time Compensation:
50% Commission Split on all completed alterations (Realistic earning potential of $25.00 to $40.00+ per hour for an efficient worker). About Our Shop We are a highly successful, customer-focused alterations, garment care and dry cleaning shop known for our friendly neighborhood vibe, elite craftsmanship, and modern workflow. We operate on a unique Three-Tier Production System designed to protect our tailors' time. In our shop, you are treated like a master surgeon. A junior apprentice handles your garment deconstruction (seam ripping), basic marking, plain hemming, and final industrial pressing. Your hands stay on the machines , allowing you to focus 100% of your time on high-skill, high-ticket sewing to maximize your weekly commission checks. Position Overview We are seeking a fast, highly precise, and professional Senior Tailor / Seamstress . The ideal candidate is an expert in structured tailoring who prides themselves on speed, efficiency, and replicating factory-quality finishes. If you love the art of tailoring but hate wasting time on cheap jean hems, low-value prep work, or administrative clutter, this is the perfect environment for you. Core Responsibilities High-Level Structural Sewing:
Execute complex alterations on men's and women's suits, blazers, luxury formalwear, bridal gowns, and delicate/heavy fabrics (silk, linen, chiffon, and leather/suede).
Advanced Reconstructions:
Perform jacket back alterations (1, 2, and 3 seams), lined sleeve adjustments from the shoulder or cuff, shoulder liftings, and full garment relining.
Maintain Target Production Speeds:
Adhere to our shop's structured "Target Time" workflow guidelines (e.g., executing a standard lined jacket sleeve adjustment within a 45-minute production window).
Collaborative Workflow:
Partner seamlessly with our Junior Apprentice, effectively passing off finished structural pieces for them to execute final hems, closures, and industrial steam pressing.
Qualifications & Experience Professional Machinery Expertise:
Minimum 3-5 years of commercial experience operating high-speed industrial straight-stitchers, industrial blind-hemmers, and overlock sergers.
Master Tailoring Knowledge:
Deep understanding of internal garment anatomy, canvas structuring, boned bodices, and lining manipulation.
Efficiency Mindset:
Must understand and embrace "Commercial Excellence" over slow couture methods. We prioritize replicating factory finishes quickly and accurately over microscopic, time-consuming over-engineering.
Punctual & Reliable:
Strong time-management skills with the ability to enter a focused "flow state" during high-volume production blocks. Bi-linqual Spanish and English but not a requirement, however Communicating to tier one and tier two will require English and some
