Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team here at Blue Hills Vet. As an RVT, you are the backbone of our medical care, bridging the gap between our veterinarians, our patients, and their families. This is a fast-paced role that requires clinical precision, quick thinking, and a deep-seated empathy for the animals in our care. Blue Hills Vet is a general practice and urgent care with extended evening hours and weekends. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for animals and staff during treatments or examinations Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures and sample collection to prevent infections Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians, including animal catheterization when necessary Support pet owners with pet care advice, including grooming, feeding, and behavioral training tips Operate diagnostic imaging equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status of hospitalized animals Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing pet grooming or dental cleanings under supervision Handle animals using proper handling techniques and assist in training or behavioral management when appropriate
Qualifications Credentialed:
Active RVT license in good standing (or eligible for licensure).
Experience:
1 year of experience in a clinical setting preferred, but we welcome motivated recent graduates.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong grasp of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and pharmacology.
Soft Skills:
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations, excellent communication skills, and a "team-first" attitude.
Physical Ability:

Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
