JOB SUMMARY
Rescue Coordinator Supports animal welfare initiatives through behavior assessment, adoption facilitation, social media management, public outreach and community engagement. This role serves as a liason between the shelter, rescue partners and the public while promoting humane treatment of animals through education and advocacy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage rescue partnerships and adoptions: Coordinate adoptions, match animals to suitable homes, and maintain rescue relationships. Oversee animal enrichment and behavioral evaluation: Design enrichment schedules, observe animal behavior, and document assessments for adoption readiness. Conduct public outreach and community education: Develop and manage community programs promoting animal care, responsible ownership, and adoption. Administer social media and digital promotion: Create digital campaigns, manage pet listings, and update photos to promote adoption efforts.
Maintain animal records and compliance:
Update medical and behavioral records in shelter management software and ensure compliance documentation.
Coordinate rescue transfers:
Organize transportation, licensing, and documentation for interagency rescue transfers. Collaborate with veterinary and shelter staff: Assist with animal care planning and behavioral management strategies. Organize special events and donation drives: Plan and advertise events such as microchip clinics and adoption fairs.
Evaluate and improve rescue/adoption operations:
Analyze outcomes and identify process improvements.
Ensure safety and sanitation standards:
Follow shelter sanitation procedures and animal handling safety guidelines.
Shelter Assistance:
Support daily care of animals, including feeding, cleaning kennels, and monitoring health. The individual in this role is expected to contribute to the team's efforts by completing other related tasks, as may be assigned.
