Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer Borough of Carnegie - 1.0 Carnegie, PA Job Details Part-time 2 hours ago Qualifications Research High school diploma or GED Driver's License Attention to detail Bachelor's degree in environmental science Time management Full Job Description Job Summary The Borough of Carnegie is seeking a staff member for the position of part-time Code Enforcement Officer to perform a wide range of duties as directed by Borough Management and Code Enforcement Department. This staff member will be directed with tasks that assist in the day-to-day review of residential and commercial property maintenance and upkeep throughout the municipality. Responsibilities and Duties Investigate and document zoning and property maintenance complaints and violations Research background information and property files in relation to any pending violations Proactively search for any potential code violations throughout the community Post warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, orders to comply, and related documentation for code violation compliance Communicate (verbal/written/in-person) with residents and building owners to address any pending or outstanding code violations Prepare evidence in support of legal actions taken by the Borough Appear in court as necessary to testify on behalf of the municipality in any scheduled court proceedings Attending Borough Council meetings to report on any pending or outstanding property maintenance cases as needed Uses a variety of technological hardware (i.e., computers, laptops, tablets, smart phones, GPS, cameras, etc.) and/or software (i.e., email, Microsoft Office, etc.) to maintain records and prepare accurate reports on work performed Perform other reasonable duties as directed by Borough Management and Code Enforcement Department Qualifications and Skills Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow-employees, residents, business owners, consultants, contractors, utility companies, etc. Prior experience in building, general construction practices, and property maintenance Understanding and interpretation of local / county ordinances and the International Property Maintenance Code Follow written and / or oral instructions Ability to multi-task in a demanding environment Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work Attention to detail and critical thinking skills Must be able to work independently and follow specific timelines for task completion Valid driver's license required A high school diploma or GED is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a trade / skill, or additional education and municipal experience. A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in a related field is preferred.
