The State of Minnesota is committed to equity and inclusion, and invests in employees by providing benefits, support resources, and training and development opportunities. Job Summary The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (BMP) protects the public's health and safety by assuring that the people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional are competent, ethical practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills appropriate to their title and role. The Board regulates over 40,000 health care providers and annually issues over 3,500 new credentials and investigates over 1,100 complaints. The BMP enforces statutes and rules for the regulation of people who practice medicine or as an allied health professional including acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, physical assistants, respiratory therapists, and traditional midwives. The BMP has oversight and jurisdiction for licensed healthcare providers under Minnesota Statutes Chapters 13, 147, 147(A-F), 148.7801-7815, and 214. This position offers an opportunity to use your expertise working with a team of professionals to further the work of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Investigate complaints in a thorough, timely, comprehensive and confidential manner. Write clear and concise memoranda, summarizing findings, identifying issues and making appropriate recommendations for disposition of complaint files. Actively participate in Complaint Review Committee meetings and coordinate with Board consultants. Maintain clear and well-organized complaint files, in both electronic and paper formats. Answer questions from the public, complainants, and regulated individuals regarding the Board's jurisdiction and make referrals when appropriate. Maintain complaint file data as classified by state law. This position may be eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement after orientation and training are completed. With a telework agreement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Please review the Telework Policy for details. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. One year of experience performing investigations, licensing compliance, complaint review, administration/quality assurance of licenses, legal analysis, or closely related experience in the licensing or regulatory field. Strong communication skills sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation; and to communicate effectively with co-workers, regulated professionals, legal counsel, and the public. Ability to present ideas persuasively and establish trusted professional working relationships. Analytical skills to identify and address licensing and regulatory issues effectively and inclusively. Ability to quickly gain knowledge of agency specific technology, processes and relationships with several external partners. Ability to work independently and in groups. Additional Requirements Successful applicants must pass a criminal background check through American DataBank and employment reference checks prior to employment.
