Competitive Compensation and Benefits Package Delaware City Police Department provides a competitive compensation package that includes:

Salary:

$70,000 - $93,116 (depending on experience) with 3% increase each fiscal year.

Up to 180 hours paid vacation, sick leave, 2 personal days, and 13 paid holidays.

Take-Home Vehicle:

Officers may benefit from the take-home vehicle policy.

Shift Schedule:

12 hour shifts with every other weekend off. Normal patrol shift is 2 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Retirement Plan:

20 year retirement plan via the County Municipal Police Pension program

Court standby pay, call out pay, grant funded pay opportunities. Essential Qualifications for Delaware City Police Department Candidates Prospective applicants must meet the following qualifications: U.S.

Citizenship:

All candidates must be U.S. citizens.

Age:

Applicants must be 21 years old by the time they complete the academy.

Examinations:

A physical fitness test and a written exam must be successfully passed.

Background Check:

A comprehensive background investigation is required. ‍

Medical and Psychological Assessments:

Candidates must pass medical and psychological evaluations to ensure they are fit for duty. ‍
