Job Description

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse leader to provide strategic and operational leadership for our organization's quality, performance improvement, patient safety, and regulatory programs. This highly visible leadership role will drive system-wide quality initiatives, regulatory readiness, patient safety programs, and organizational performance improvement efforts while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and high reliability. Role Overview Lead the organization's Quality, Patient Safety, Performance Improvement, and Regulatory programs Drive system-wide quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes and harm reduction Oversee accreditation readiness, regulatory compliance, and quality reporting activities Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and operational teams to improve clinical quality and patient safety Promote a culture of safety, high reliability, and continuous improvement across the organization Manage patient safety event reporting, peer review, and performance improvement activities Serve as a key advisor to executive and clinical leadership on quality and safety strategies Lead multidisciplinary initiatives that support organizational goals and regulatory requirements Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee quality management, patient safety, and performance improvement programs Lead regulatory readiness efforts, accreditation activities, and survey preparedness Monitor and improve organizational quality metrics, patient outcomes, and safety indicators Oversee patient safety event management, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning Partner with physicians, nursing, and operational leaders to drive quality initiatives Lead quality reporting and compliance efforts, including regulatory and accreditation requirements Support peer review and clinical performance improvement processes Utilize data analytics to identify trends, reduce risk, and improve outcomes Promote High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles and a culture of safety Develop and mentor quality and patient safety team members Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic quality and patient safety priorities Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related healthcare field required Master's Degree (MSN, MHA, MPH, MBA, or related field) preferred Experience Minimum 3-5 years of direct patient care experience required Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience required Demonstrated experience leading healthcare quality improvement and patient safety programs Experience with accreditation surveys, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives Strong background collaborating with interdisciplinary clinical and operational teams Experience with quality reporting, patient safety event management, and organizational performance improvement Licenses & Certifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) strongly preferred Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) strongly preferred Preferred Experience Joint Commission survey readiness and accreditation experience Leapfrog Hospital Survey experience CMS quality reporting experience DNV accreditation experience New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) regulatory experience MIDAS patient safety/event reporting experience Knowledge of High Reliability Organizations (HRO), Just Culture, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies Skills Strategic leadership and change management capabilities Strong quality improvement and patient safety expertise Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills Strong project management and organizational abilities Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to influence physicians, executives, and multidisciplinary teams Experience driving organizational culture change and continuous improvement initiatives Why Join Us Join a respected healthcare organization and a nationally recognized leader in patient care Partner directly with leadership to help shape the future of quality and safety initiatives Lead high-impact organizational efforts focused on patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory excellence Opportunity to influence executive decision-making and system-wide performance improvement strategies Work within a Magnet-designated academic medical center known for clinical excellence and innovation Competitive compensation package with a salary range of $148,000 - $221,000 15% annual bonus opportunity Unlimited PTO for leadership positions Comprehensive benefits, retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and student loan forgiveness eligibility Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient safety, quality outcomes, and organizational performance across a leading healthcare system
