Senior Roadway Safety Engineer T&M Associates - 3.5 Ewing, NJ Job Details Full-time $90,000 - $115,000 a year 23 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Qualifications Project coordination Full Job Description T&M Associates is seeking a Traffic Engineer or Transportation Planner to support the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Bureau of Safety Improvement Programs (BSIP). This position will focus on the implementation and delivery of the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and other statewide roadway safety initiatives. A successful candidate will collaborate with NJDOT staff and stakeholders to evaluate, develop, and implement engineering solutions that improve safety for all roadway users. This position requires full-time, on-site work at NJDOT Headquarters in Ewing, New Jersey. Key Responsibilities Support the implementation of the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) initiatives. Participate in Road and Pedestrian Safety Audits (RSA/PRSA) and coordinate with NJDOT, local agencies, and project stakeholders. Review transportation projects throughout the NJDOT Capital Project Delivery Process to ensure safety improvements and compliance with applicable standards. Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and HSIP program reporting while supporting data management and automation efforts. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and support public outreach and interagency coordination. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, or a related field required. 5+ years of experience with the NJDOT Capital Project Delivery Process and NJDOT Complete Streets Policy preferred. Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Planner (PP/AICP), and/or Road Safety Professional (RSP1/RSP2) certification preferred. Knowledge of FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures, HSM, MUTCD, NJDOT Roadway Design Manual, AASHTO guidelines, and Complete Streets principles. Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams. T&M estimates that the salary range for this position will fall between $90,000 - $115,000 . The actual salary offered may vary within this range, depending on a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, educational qualifications, specific skills and knowledge, as well as internal pay equity and geographic location.
