ABOUT THE ROLE APIC

Solutions is seeking a skilled and experienced Low Voltage Technician to join our New Mexico operations. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining sophisticated low voltage systems including structured cabling, fire alarm systems, security systems, and audio/visual solutions. You will work on medium and large commercial projects, ensuring installations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise to take on leadership responsibilities, mentor apprentices, and contribute to APIC Solutions' continued growth and success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low voltage systems including:
  • Structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic)
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Security systems (CCTV, access control, intrusion detection)
  • Audio/visual and communication systems
  • Nurse call, paging, and intercom systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and comprehensive documentation
  • Diagnose and repair system malfunctions efficiently and professionally
  • Ensure installations comply with NEC, local codes, and manufacturer requirements
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades
  • Mentor and supervise apprentices or helpers as assigned
  • Maintain accurate job records, redline drawings, and service reports
  • Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations at all times
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in optimal working condition

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience installing low voltage special systems and/or data infrastructure for medium and large commercial projects
  • Valid New Mexico Low Voltage Journeyman License (ES3J/7)
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and vehicle liability insurance
  • Proficient knowledge of low voltage special systems and data infrastructure installation practices
  • Strong working knowledge of industry code requirements and NEC standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Willingness to travel as required for job assignments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Project management or supervisory experience
  • Experience mentoring or training apprentices
  • Certifications in specialized systems (Fire Alarm, Security, etc.)
