  • Job Title: Maintenance Technician
  • Job Description
  • This contract-to-hire Maintenance Technician role supports a busy industrial manufacturing facility by performing both mechanical and electrical maintenance on production and plant equipment.

The position focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing equipment performance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The technician works primarily on first shift with opportunities for overtime, especially during peak production periods.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on production and plant equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.

+ Perform electrical maintenance and repair work on equipment, including systems operating up to 480 volts, without programming responsibilities.

+ Cut, thread, and install piping for various plant systems, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

+ Install, troubleshoot, rebuild, repair, and replace pumps, including progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear-driven pumps.

+ Apply working knowledge of steam boilers and thermal oil heaters, including their applications and controls, to support safe and efficient operation.

+ Maintain and troubleshoot industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping systems.

+ Use electrical, air-driven, and manual hand tools, as well as arc welders, acetylene torches, and other open flame equipment, in a safe and effective manner.

+ Perform pipe fitting and pipe welding tasks to support maintenance and installation projects.

+ Diagnose equipment and process problems, define root causes, and develop safe, cost-effective repair or replacement solutions.

+ Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment and identify opportunities to create and implement new preventive maintenance procedures as needed.

+ Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checklists accurately and on time.

+ Fill out T3P Personal Risk Assessment Forms, Safety Task Planner, and Good Catch forms daily to support a strong safety culture.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both the maintenance shop and at each work site.

+ Operate a forklift as needed to move materials, tools, or equipment safely within the facility.

+ Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support ramp-up periods, and meet operational goals.

  • Essential Skills
  • + Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar industrial maintenance role.

+ Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience with production and plant equipment.

+ Ability to perform electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment up to 480 volts (no programming required).

+ Proficiency in reading and working from schematics and blueprints.

+ Hands-on experience with pumps, including troubleshooting, rebuilding, repair, and replacement of progressive cavity, diaphragm, and gear-driven pumps.

+ Working knowledge of steam boilers and thermal oil heaters, including their applications and controls.

+ Working knowledge of industrial air compressors and pneumatic piping systems.

+ Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.

+ Ability to perform preventive maintenance and update or develop new preventive maintenance procedures.

+ Skilled in the use of electrical, air-driven, and manual hand tools, including safe use of arc welders and acetylene torches.

+ Ability to perform pipe fitting and pipe welding tasks.

+ Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills for equipment and processes.

+ Ability to complete safety-related documentation and maintenance checklists accurately and consistently.

+ Capability to operate a forklift safely as part of daily activities.

  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial setting.

+ Experience in industrial maintenance, maintenance mechanics, or related fields.

+ Familiarity with motors, gearboxes, and 3-phase electrical systems.

+ Experience in non-climate-controlled, hot industrial environments.

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness in work areas.

+ Ability to work overtime, including some Saturdays, especially during peak ramp-up season.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based in a non-climate-controlled, hot industrial manufacturing facility with active production equipment and heavy machinery.

The position operates on a first shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required and significant overtime available during ramp-up season starting in April. The technician regularly works around boilers, thermal oil heaters, pumps, compressors, piping systems, and electrical equipment up to 480 volts, using tools such as electrical and pneumatic hand tools, arc welders, acetylene torches, and forklifts. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to established safety procedures and documentation.

  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $30.

00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
