Job description TRS International Manufacturing, Inc. has been in the business of manufacturing cables since 1989 and has enjoyed a strong growth ever since its founding. Our company has since grown into a professional manufacturer of custom cable assemblies and wiring harnesses TRS is located in Foothill Ranch, California, USA. Our production facility is capable of processing rush prototype requirements, as well as mass production of certain assembly categories. We have strong support in engineering, purchasing, and high-volume manufacturing. Over the course of the years, TRS has managed to make its products cost-effective without compromising quality. We are looking for Product Engineering Technician currently. The role reports to the director of production and quality, supports new and existing manufacturing processes, new products, product changes and enhancements, as well as related tooling and fixtures, interfaces with other departments to solve production problems, investigation and testing of product processes, drafts and executes validation of product, equipment and processes, manages builds for new product development in prototype and pilot production setting, including training of operators and coordination with production planning, analyzes data and improve processes to assure robust/repeatable manufacturing processes, manages process validation and product transfer activities across different manufacturing facilities, review and develop manufacturing documents (PRD, FAI, BOM, etc.) Essential Functions This is a hands-on working position that requires routine cable assembly manufacturing work Interprets customer drawings, specifications and workmanship standards to develop a quote Bill of Material. Provides complete technical assessment, including cost estimate spreadsheet to sales Performs complete technical assessment for each project quoted, determining tooling requirements and cost, testing requirements and timing required, and determines if further clarification and/or documents are required from the customer Communicates design concerns, drawing errors, interpretation issues, and manufacturability enhancements to sales as necessary. Research, evaluate, plan and implement manufacturing processes, including raw components, tooling and equipment for new and existing products Assess manufacturability of product designs and recommend improvements Solve varied and/or complex manufacturing problems and assist in the resolution of variance problems Initiate and implement potential cost, process, work flow, tooling, quality, and safety improvements using value analysis, work simplification and cost analysis techniques Design and specify tools, fixtures, dies, and equipment Competencies Manufacturing engineering experience is required, cable assembly experience preferred. Be highly responsive and possess good problem solving skills Detail orientation, high productivity, flexibility and enthusiasm are required in this role Preferred Education and/or Experience/Licenses and/or Certificates Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
