Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and energetic Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and gas passenger vehicles. You will be joining a team of two seasoned Diesel mechanics. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brakes, and other heavy equipment components using schematics and diagnostic tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial equipment. Troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently using automotive diagnostics techniques and mechanical knowledge to identify root causes. Repair or replace faulty parts including brakes, suspensions, air systems, power trains, tires, and electrical components while adhering to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Fabricate or modify parts as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure proper fit and function. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment to minimize downtime and extend service life. Assist with equipment assembly, installation, calibration, alignment, and testing to ensure operational standards are met or exceeded. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, diagnostics conducted, and maintenance schedules followed. Support heavy equipment operation when necessary while ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed during all tasks. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with team members regarding repair status and technical issues. Experience Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician with a strong background in construction machinery maintenance or industrial equipment servicing. Dealership experience is highly desirable for familiarity with OEM parts and repair procedures. Hands-on expertise in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; ability to read schematics accurately. Extensive knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair procedures across various brands such as Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery manufacturers. Skilled in electrical diagnostics related to electrical systems in heavy equipment as well as automotive repair fundamentals. Experience troubleshooting hydraulics, suspensions, air brake systems, HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning), transmissions, tires/tire service and alignment is preferred. Ability to operate heavy equipment safely when required; familiarity with heavy lifting techniques is essential. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software, schematics reading, and basic computer skills for record keeping. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; committed to maintaining high safety standards at all times.
