We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic who enjoys diagnosing problems, completing quality repairs, and taking ownership of equipment from inspection through completion. This is a primarily shop-based position focused on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and keeping equipment downtime to a minimum. 6:00 AM-12:30 PM | Average 58+ hours per week •schedule may vary based on operational needs, emergency repairs, and field demands• Key Responsibilities Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Peterbilt commercial trucks, Ford pickups, trailers, and heavy construction equipment Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic, electrical, air, braking, and suspension systems Perform high-volume fleet repairs with minimal supervision Perform wheel-end inspections, brake repairs, air brake service, kingpin replacement, PM services, oil changes, lubrication, and routine fleet maintenance Diagnose and repair DPF/DEF aftertreatment systems, including regeneration, sensors, fault codes, and related system issues Use diagnostic scan tools, live data, fault codes, OEM information, and technical resources to identify root causes—not simply replace parts Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, lighting, sensors, computers, and control systems Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including hydraulic lines, fittings, cylinders, and related components Perform tire mounting, dismounting, balancing, repairs, and tire-related service Perform engine, transmission, and drivetrain component removal, repair, rebuilding, and installation Inspect equipment to identify wear, developing issues, and upcoming maintenance needs Perform light welding and fabrication as needed Complete repairs safely, accurately, and efficiently while minimizing equipment downtime Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs Communicate repair findings, equipment status, and recommended repairs with the Equipment Manager and Shop Foreman Work closely with other mechanics and shop personnel to prioritize repairs and keep equipment moving through the shop Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area Assist with occasional field repairs or emergency equipment needs when required Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 3-5+ years of hands-on diesel mechanic experience in construction, fleet, transportation, or heavy equipment environments Proven ability to independently diagnose and repair diesel trucks and equipment Strong experience with commercial truck systems, including air brakes, wheel ends, kingpins, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance Experience with diagnostic scan tools and interpreting fault codes and live data Strong understanding of diesel engines, drivetrain, hydraulic, electrical, braking, and aftertreatment systems Experience with Peterbilt, Ford, or heavy construction equipment preferred Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail Ability to work independently while contributing to a team Valid Virginia driver's license with a clean driving record Legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Heavy construction equipment repair experience Experience with CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, Link-Belt, Peterbilt, or similar equipment OEM diagnostic software experience ASE certification or equivalent credentials Welding and fabrication experience CDL Class A or ability to obtain Experience mentoring or supporting other mechanics Bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus Physical Requirements Ability to work in shop and field environments with exposure to noise, dust, grease, diesel exhaust, hydraulic fluids, varying temperatures, and changing weather conditions Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and perform physical repair work for extended periods Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull tools, parts, components, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs or more Ability to climb ladders, steps, platforms, and equipment to perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs Ability to access and work in tight or confined areas of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment Strong visual ability to inspect components, identify mechanical issues, read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic information Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively Ability to consistently wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company and safety standards Ability to work safely around operating equipment, vehicles, and moving machinery Ability to
