Position Overview This is a technical, hands-on engineering role for someone who can move fluidly between the estimating desk and the field. Your primary focus is winning work: responding to RFP and RFQ opportunities for new generator installations, maintenance contracts, and electrical services with accurate, competitive, and well-engineered proposals. Beyond estimating, you'll assist our Lead Technician by supporting the technical side of our electrical and instrumentation upgrade projects — quoting, engineering, designing, and helping install modern generator control systems, monitoring instrumentation, and switchgear. We're looking for someone with genuine electrical and controls competence who is equally comfortable sizing a system on paper and verifying it in the field. Key Responsibilities Respond to RFP and RFQ opportunities for new generator installations, generator maintenance contracts, and electrical services with accurate, competitive proposals. Scope, price, and prepare technical documentation for bids across a range of project sizes. Coordinate with sales, field technicians, and clients to ensure quotes reflect real-world site conditions and requirements. Secondary Responsibilities Quote, engineer, design, and support installation of electrical and instrumentation (E&I) upgrades, including: Modern generator controller upgrades and retrofits Generator-related instrumentation such as fuel level sensors and monitoring systems Switchgear and paralleling switchgear Develop wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical specifications for upgrade projects. Provide field support and technical oversight during installation and commissioning. Troubleshoot control, instrumentation, and switchgear issues in the field and recommend solutions.

Qualifications Electrical & Controls Knowledge:

Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, generator controls, instrumentation, and switchgear. Familiarity with paralleling and load-sharing concepts strongly preferred.

Estimating Ability:

Experience preparing quotes, bids, or RFP/RFQ responses for technical or construction-related work.

Engineering & Design:

Ability to read, develop, and interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical specifications.

Field Competence:

Comfortable working on-site to verify conditions, support installations, and troubleshoot systems.

Communication Skills:

Professional verbal and written communication for direct interaction with clients, technicians, and manufacturers.

Computer Proficiency:

Strong computer skills and the ability to learn service management software, manufacturer databases, and design tools.

Education/Experience:

A background in electrical engineering, electrical technology, controls, or equivalent field experience in power generation, industrial electrical, or a related industry.

Driver's License:
