Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and proactive Landscape Equipment Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of our landscaping equipment fleet. You will be responsible for ensuring that all trucks, trailers, mowers, small engines, and specialized landscape equipment remain safe, reliable, and fully operational, allowing our field crews to perform at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate is mechanically proficient, highly organized, and committed to a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule minimizing equipment downtime while managing repair costs effectively. Duties Diagnose & repair mechanical issues on landscaping equipment including: Zero-turn and stand-on mowers Push mowers and small engines String trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, chainsaws Skid steers and compact equipment Irrigation trenchers and specialty tools Preventative Maintenance Oil and filter changes Blade sharpening and balancing Belt and spindle replacements Tire repairs and replacements Fuel and hydraulic system checks Repair and maintain trucks and trailers used for landscaping operations. Fleet Oversight Maintain maintenance schedules for all equipment. Track equipment hours and service intervals. Coordinate warranty repairs with equipment vendors and dealerships. Maintain parts inventory and order replacement parts as needed. Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards. Operational Support Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to minimize crew downtime. Assist production teams with troubleshooting equipment in the field. Prepare equipment for seasonal changes such as leaf season or irrigation season. Inspect new equipment upon delivery and prepare it for deployment. Shop & Safety Management Maintain a clean, organized, and safe mechanic shop. Ensure proper storage and handling of fuels, oils, and hazardous materials. Maintain maintenance records and service logs. Follow OSHA and company safety standards.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a mechanic with small engine or landscape equipment Applicants are expected to provide their own standard set of professional mechanical hand tools Experience working with fleet trucks and trailers Strong knowledge of: Small engine repair: 1 year Hydraulic systems Electrical diagnostics Gas and diesel engines Ability to diagnose mechanical problems quickly and accurately Valid driver's license required Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in a shop environment Ability to commute Willingness to travel: 50% required Experience in maintaining commercial landscaping equipment brands such as:
Exmark Toro Scag Stihl Echo Wright License/Certification:
