Job Description

Coastal Aire is seeking an experienced HVAC professional to serve as an HVAC Project Manager/Senior Service Technician. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to oversee projects from initial evaluation through final completion. The ideal candidate can diagnose complex HVAC problems, develop appropriate repair or replacement solutions, support field technicians and installers, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose, service, and troubleshoot residential and light-commercial HVAC systems Provide advanced technical support to service technicians and installation crews Evaluate job conditions and determine equipment, materials, labor, and scheduling needs Review project scopes, equipment selections, job specifications, and installation requirements Coordinate HVAC installation and replacement projects from scheduling through final startup Communicate project expectations with customers, office staff, technicians, installers, vendors, and subcontractors Confirm that equipment and materials are ordered, received, and staged before work begins Conduct site visits, quality-control inspections, system startups, and final job reviews Troubleshoot furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, package units, zoning systems, and HVAC controls Review airflow, ductwork, refrigerant, electrical, venting, combustion, and control-system performance Help technicians resolve difficult service calls and callbacks Ensure work complies with manufacturer instructions, applicable codes, permit requirements, and company standards Document job progress, equipment information, changes in scope, and recommended corrective work Assist with training, mentoring, and evaluating technicians and installers Promote a safe, professional, and productive work environment Maintain positive communication with customers and address project concerns promptly
QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive HVAC service, troubleshooting, and installation experience is required Strong knowledge of gas furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, airflow, refrigeration, electrical systems, and controls Ability to diagnose complex technical problems accurately and efficiently Experience supervising technicians, installers, or HVAC projects is strongly preferred Ability to read wiring diagrams, installation manuals, mechanical plans, and job specifications EPA Section 608 certification is required or must be obtained NATE certification and applicable trade licensing are preferred Strong leadership, organization, documentation, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple jobs and respond effectively to changing priorities Professional customer-service and conflict-resolution skills Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to perform physical HVAC work and access attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, and mechanical areas as needed
