You listen for the subtle hum of healthy bearings, scan for wear on mechanical drives, and plan your first repair. By mid-morning you're machining a precision component on a vertical mill to return a line to design throughput. After lunch, you're reviewing prints, diagnosing a bearing failure, and fine-tuning a pneumatic circuit so equipment runs at peak efficiency. Before you leave, you secure tools, verify machine guards, and document work using your computer skills—ready to answer an on-call request if production needs you. What you'll handle Maintain production and facilities equipment so it operates at design efficiency and throughput. Perform hands-on mechanical work, including machining on vertical mills, lathes, and surface grinders. Read prints and perform layout; diagnose bearing failures and service mechanical drive systems. Ensure the shop, equipment, and tools are safe, well-maintained, and properly secured. Be available for on-call needs and work overtime as required. What you bring Knowledge of mechanical systems. 3-5 years of practical experience in a related field. Computer skills. High school diploma or GED.
