Facilities Assistant / Property Maintenance Coordinator The Desert Southwest Conference is seeking a Facilities Assistant / Property Maintenance Coordinator. The person in this role is responsible for supporting the safe and effective operation of the camp's property and facilities. This role focuses on performing routine maintenance, assisting with groundskeeping, and supporting facility readiness for guest groups. The Facilities Assistant works under the direction of the Camp Director and in collaboration with outside vendors, volunteers, and contractors when specialized expertise is required. Applicants must reside in a 50-100 mile radius of Prescott Valley, AZ.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across camp facilities and grounds (painting, basic carpentry, trail upkeep, etc.).
• Assist in preparing facilities for incoming guest groups to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
• Support the implementation of the camp's Risk Management Plan under the guidance of the Camp Director.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Assist with upkeep of camp vehicles and equipment, coordinating with vendors for servicing when necessary.
• Help maintain camp logs and records related to maintenance and safety checks. Identify potential facility improvements and communicate them to the Camp Director.
• Collaborate with service and volunteer groups on facility and grounds projects.
• Maintain campgrounds (including mowing, debris removal, snow/ice removal as directed).
• Support fire risk reduction efforts by removing fuel sources and maintaining safe outdoor spaces.
• Shadow and assist licensed professionals in septic, plumbing, water, and electrical systems to build knowledge and experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of Desert Southwest Conference Camp & Retreat Ministries.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma is required, some college or technical training preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, groundskeeping, or related work.
• Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques.
• Must reside within 50-100 miles of Prescott, AZ.
• Understand and accept the mission of Desert Southwest Conference.
• Perform assigned duties in such a way as to fulfill the overall ministry aims of the camp, Desert Southwest Camp & Retreat Ministries and Desert Southwest Annual Conference.
• Basic record-keeping and logging of maintenance tasks.
• Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools used for basic facility and equipment maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Skilled in using hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Additional Considerations:

• This is a seasonal position; however, there may be an opportunity to continue into the next season based on organizational needs.
